I knew you were a good writer but this was great! You made amazing connections that i never would have seen and not to mention, you added some thing from three or four weeks back which really impressed me. Good job!

Book Recommendations!

Sofia: Fallen, by Lauren Kate. "This author is descriptive and I love all the twists in the plot!"
Joey: Flags of our Fathers, by James Bradley. "I love this book because it shows the trouble and lives of the Marines during WWII in Iwo Jima."
Dorian: Kingdom of Simplicity, by Holly Payne.
Sheila: Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson, and 13 Reasons Why, by Jay Asher. "Both of these books are great, but require a high level of maturity. They talk about real life situations."
Chiara: This Lullaby, by Sarah Dessen. "I like how this book follows the life of a teenager and her problems."
Alyssa: The Hunger Games Series, by Suzanne Collins. "When I started reading it I thought it would be ok, but after the first chapter I couldn't stop reading! It's about North America in the future where kids have to fight to the death on live TV! It's much better than it sounds--READ IT!"
Cheyenne: Maxium Ride, by James Patterson. "It's a series about these children who were born from test tubes and genetically enhanced. They have wings!"
Dylan: The Percy Jackson Series, by Rick Riordan. "They are super exciting and awesome!"

Welcome to Marin SEL!

Welcome to the classroom blog for Terra Linda High School's fledgling academy, the Marin School of Environmental Leadership. We are a group of 25 motivated, hardworking freshmen who, together with our parents, teachers and fellow students are setting out to join the green revolution and create real, sustainable changes in ourselves, our school, our community and planet. Our teachers, Jesse Madsen, Saum Zargar, Dave Garcia and Teagen Leonhart, are working together to create integrated curriculum centered around environmental themes: this year's are water, energy, transportation, waste and climate change. Our goal for this blog is to use it connect with our community outside the classroom, share our experiences in studying these crucial topics, and above all, to synthesize what we learn in ALL of our classes as our academy gets off the ground and takes on a real shape within the academic year. The blog will be written by a different student each week, and we welcome your comments, ideas, questions and suggestions!
